The only acceptable pizza is bacon + pineapple, light sauce, well-done. Come at me, bro.
I'm enjoying American Crime Story.
I finally saw saw the new Star Wars movie. I want a BB8.
(Stop judging me.)

Our house is loaded with BB8 swag. Brigid is a fan. Pizza needs five things: crust, sauce, cheese, pepperoni, black olives. After that it's over kill. Howell has a lot of minuses, but two microbreweries including one that is also a BBQ place and is a three minute drive away makes it worth it.

I maaaay be re-watching Beverly Hills, 90210. And if I were, I would have to say - this shit is awful! The misogyny, the horrible acting, the terrible clothes ... wow. The nostalgia is really not over-powering the awfulness.
Our one and only car is broken. Sean is thinking fuel pump. It's a 2001 Buick LeSabre. We already put a ton of money in repairs for it before Christmas and now this. So, do I call it a lost cause, scrap it, and buy a new(ish) car? Or should I invest the money and hope for the best? Help me Northern Guard, you're my only hope.
Edited to add: I do have a good friend who buys and sells cars all the time, who told me he could get me a reliable car for about $1000. That info factors in to the scrap or not question.

Help me Northern Guard, you're my only hope. Edited to add: I do have a good friend who buys and sells cars all the time, who told me he could get me a reliable car for about $1000. That info factors in to the scrap or not question. So I know there are a lot of car people with, shall I say, loyalties in the NGS. And I'm one of them (Ford). My general gut is that a $1000 car might be "reliable" but everyone's definition of "reliable" is different. My brother considers a car reliable if he can repair it himself if anything goes wrong - but he's a certified BMW technician who's seen it all, he can fix just about anything and has the tools or access to the tools to do it. My definition of reliable is things don't go wrong (I think this is most people's definition but you mentioned your friend being a car person). My other definition is that it comes with protections if something does go wrong, like a dealer warranty - which you don't get off a $1000 craigslist car. It's also important to note that insurance on most clunkers is more than a car that is a bit younger. From my experience insurance cost is a parabola when it comes to age. New - expensive, Lightly used - cheap, Clunker - expensive. Generally you should consider repairs and maintenance part of the monthly payment. I had a friend driving a similar car as your current clunker and he "paid" it off ($1000 craigslist car) but was probably spending an average of $200 a month (usually in sudden, painful spikes) a year to drive that clunker around. So if your repairs over two years have totaled $3000 (for example) you've been able to afford $125/month - which is comparable to a base hatchback Fiesta lease ($123/m) during deal season (and before X-plan, which I can give you ). Plus the lease is consistent, you can plan around it. As compared to $0, $0, $0, $0, $0, $800... In the end, my suggestion is talk to a dealer and aim for the $5,000 to $10,000 (be willing to consider loans, but remember banks will only loan if the car is <5 years old) range, look for dealer warranties. Usually a good dealer can get you a bit more for your clunker than a scrap yard (most scrappers are $250, Brigid and I both got >$300 for our 91/2 Saturns). Never commit, test drive a lot of cars, and don't rule out new entry-level vehicles. Edit: I hope I didn't come across as some money-burning d-bag. I understand that not everyone wants to/can drop $5k or sign up for a bank loan, just my honest assessment from watching a lot of people go from bad to worse buying a "cheap" car.

Thanks so much, Nick - good points, all. And you didn't sound like a douchebag.
